Sanji's QL CA 5v5 tournament predictions
By StreeT - June 21, 2009 at 12:57Only an hour before the tournament we sat down with Maxime "Sanji" Aladame, A Weird Monkey player from France. He is involved with Quake for a long time now and his experience and knowledge about the game are very big.
In a quick write-up, he talks about the chances of some of the teams and their shape lately. According to him, Druidz, Bubbels, Procedemus and his own team have the biggest chance to win the tournament.
Hopefully, we will hear more from Sanji in the QuakeLive TV stream today. Don't forget to record your demos and good luck in the tournament again.
Sanji's QL CA 5v5 Preview:
The perspective of winning cash prizes and compete against the best Clanarena teams seem to have brought this cup a lot of known clans and some new clans that still need to prove their value.
The first interesting match will be sexeh against druidz in the first round of the cup. I don't know much about sexeh, but I know they used to be a pretty good Quake 3 team and are doing a flawless course in ESL CA cup. Druidz gathered very skilled Scandinavian players. They were well known (and feared) in Rocket Arena 3. Most of them played in the Swedish national team in ra3 and rawx was the captain of Team Finland. Be careful when you meet peaz and chentr, these guys know each other pretty well and have a monstrous aim.
Bubbels will meet the winner of druidz - sexeh. It should be a very close game. Even if they are not really Clan Arena or RA3 players, they are all top skilled players in OSP and CPM and they are obviously one of the favorites for this cup.
Weird Monkeys were really lucky with the seeds. They shouldn't have any problems to win the first two or three rounds. Link1n is known for his skills in duel and especially in tdm. But his mates are not unknown in ra3, since most of them were part of the last French ra3 team who won the nations cup. They should also be fighting for the first place.
Procedemus against fishtix will also be a wonderful match. I'm not sure about fishtix, but they seem to have won all their matches in ESL. Procedemus should win this game and are probably one of the teams who have the biggest chance of winning this tournament with top German players.
The last part of the tree will also be very interesting. Piece of Cake also features top German players, gathered with top Dutch players. They won against Weird Monkeys in ESL and are going to fight hard for the first place. They should be meeting Critical Crew in the second round who are a nice French team, but shouldn't be able to do anything against Piece of Cake.
Deathreign was a very good team in ra3 and ctf in Quake 3 and should provide a nice challenge to Piece of Cake and critical crew in this part of the tree.
To finish, I would say favorites for this cup are Sexeh, Weird Monkeys, Piece of Cake, Procedemus, Druidz and Bubbels. In my own opinion, Procedemus or Piece of cake should win this if they are in a good shape.
