Final Day and Tournament Wrap
Final Matchup
Couldn't have been anymore exciting to see K1llsen and Strenx two long time challenging foes competing for the flights to our Bejing competition. With nVc, Mickzerofive and ProZaC casting the finals LIVE, and ofcourse downloadable for VOD later.
The tournament started with Strenx's pick and most renowned map dm6;
This entailed a very nice starting map to the competition with some very nice map control displayed by both players. In the end Strenx's initial lead proved a goal for K1llsens very big catchup. As the frustrated Strenx gave way a few silly mistakes that allowed K1llsen to take opportunity and the game seconds before ten minute play time was up. K1llsen 8-7
Next we moved onto K1llsens map choice but both players trade, rocket and LG fighting over on t9;
The map started in Strenx's favour and although K1llsen fought hard for a come back I feel that Strenx established a much more dominant figure through-out the game. A nice frag turned into a few quick spawn frags and allowed Strenx a lot of breathing space to move around the map a bit more comfrotable and confidentally. K1llsen played well to keep the scoreline close but Strenx took it 6-3
It couldn't have been anymore tense with a 1-1 map score tied game, moving into dm13;
Two very nice play style matchups, as we saw K1llsen with a nice spawn off the start. Strenx taking the game to the next level as he foils K1llsen's plan to "play off the items". In the end this wasn't enough and K1llsen simply frustarted Strenx to the point where he threw away a few easy frags and let K1llsen play the game on his terms. Which was a very bad idea... K1llsen 7-2
Unexpected, but again, ca2 made its way into the finals map pool;
Reliving another rather one sided matchup this time K1llsen on the recieving end of a well practiced Strenx. Nothing for K1llsen to do except keep his rail gun warm coming into the final map. Strenx dominates 18-3
Final match and both players very familiar with the respectable map t7;
The tension was so thin you could cut it with a knife, K1llsen hitting some very nice rail accuracy early on in the game. Also with his ability to control position more then items came much into play, constantly "playing off items" to establish a more concrete lead in the game. Strenx finally took back control but it was a little too-late and even Strenx's infamous "timing game" couldn't him out of the position K1llsen put him in and eventually forced Strenx into a do or die fight around the YA in rail gun room. Congratulations to K1llsen taking the deciding map out 7-3
